Biography
Julia D. Moudy joins the Firm’s litigation and trial team, with an emphasis on medical malpractice. She has tried over 100 cases to a jury, worked almost 27 years in the Alaska Public Defender Agency, and litigated civil and criminal cases in courtrooms all around the state for 29 years.
Raised in Talkeetna, she graduated Magna Cum Laude from Gonzaga Law School in 1994. While in law school, she successfully argued a habeas petition before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and received the Public Service Award from the Washington State Trial Lawyers Association. After graduation, she immediately began her career mentored by many of Alaska’s legendary trial lawyers, and ultimately joined the Alaska Public Defender Agency in 1995. While most of her career has been spent trying cases, Julia also appeared before the Alaska Court of Appeals and Alaska Supreme Court, writing, arguing, and winning several precedent-setting appeals and fighting to ensure that the rights of Alaska’s citizens are protected. She served on the Bar Examination Committee for the Alaska Bar Association. As a former supervisor of the Public Defender’s trial unit and the Training Director for over 15 years, she is well respected for her knowledge of the law and her skills as a trial lawyer. In addition to her success in achieving favorable outcomes for her clients, Julia received the Champion of Liberty award from the Alaska Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and was named Litigator of the Year by her colleagues in the Public Defender Agency.
